Principal, Ogilvy Government Relations
Gordon Taylor brings more than 15 years of government relations experience to his work at Ogilvy, including 10 years in senior staff positions with members of both political parties in the U.S. House of Representatives. As a principal at Ogilvy Government Relations, Mr. Taylor represents a diverse group of U.S. and international companies and trade associations on matters before the legislative and executive branches of government. He advises clients on legislative and political strategy, messaging, and grassroots mobilization. He has also worked on and off Capitol Hill on several high profile congressional oversight and investigative matters. Mr. Taylor specializes in energy, financial services, health care and technology issues.
Throughout his career, Mr. Taylor has worked for and developed relationships with key centrists in Congress. He was Chief of Staff to Congressman Chris John (D-LA), where he served as the Congressman’s top advisor on matters related to his work on the House Energy & Commerce Committee. Congressman John was a leader of the Blue Dog Caucus and a member of the New Democratic Coalition. Mr. Taylor was responsible for helping develop and implement the Congressman’s legislative agendas in both groups.
Mr. Taylor began his work on Capitol Hill in 1994 as a legislative aide to Congressman James A. Hayes (R-LA) where he worked on tax and trade issues related to the Congressman’s service on the House Ways and Means Committee. He also served as the Congressman’s press secretary.
In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Taylor has worked in high-level positions on a number of House, Senate and gubernatorial campaigns.
Mr. Taylor holds a B.A. from Emory University and a J.D. from George Washington University. He resides in Washington, D.C., with his wife Cameron and their four children.
