Mike Hogan

Senior Vice President, Ogilvy Government Relations

Michael Hogan is a senior vice president at Ogilvy Government Relations, providing strategic counsel to a variety of the firm’s clients on issues ranging from health care and insurance to energy, financial services, telecommunications and others.  Hogan brings nearly 25 years of experience in the design and execution of successful legislative policy development and political strategies to the bi-partisan firm.  He has worked in leadership positions for prominent members of both The House of Representatives and U.S. Senate, as well as trade associations and his own public affairs firm.

Prior to joining Ogilvy Government Relations, Hogan served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Washington, DC, office of pragmatic, pro-business centrist U.S. Senator, Ben Nelson (D-NE).  In Senator Nelson’s office, Hogan coordinated legislative, communications, and constituent services strategies, served as the Senator’s chief political designee in Washington, and key liaison with other Senate Chiefs of Staff and the White House and administration.

Named a “Top Physician Lobbyist” and” Top Association Lobbyist” by The Hill newspaper, Hogan has strong expertise in healthcare policy and payment, energy policy, financial services, and legislative strategy and tactical execution, as well as broad, bipartisan relationships with Members and staff in both Houses of Congress and the administration.

With an entrepreneurial and objective-driven approach, Hogan excels in policy-based branding that creates long term goodwill for clients.

Hogan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from James Madison University. He serves as a reading mentor through Everybody Wins! in Washington, DC, schools, and currently resides in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife Mary.
