Senior Vice President, Ogilvy Government Relations
Ryan Thompson is a Senior Vice President at Ogilvy Government Relations, providing strategic counsel in advocacy, legislative affairs and crisis management to a variety of the firm’s energy, transportation, aviation, defense and technology clients. Over the last decade, Thompson has developed extensive experience on Capitol Hill as a leader and communicator.
Prior to joining Ogilvy Government Relations, Thompson served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.). In this capacity, Thompson served as lead political and policy counselor to Senator Inhofe. As a liaison for the Senator’s committee work as Chairman and ranking member on the Environment and Public Works Committee and senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Thompson participated in countless areas of public policy debate in Washington.
As Chief of Staff, Thompson was responsible for developing and executing legislative, political and communications strategies on behalf of the Senator and in concert with Senate Leadership and Committee staff.
Previously, Thompson served as Senator Inhofe’s Press Secretary. In this role he directed national communications strategy and provided daily strategic counsel on the implication of current events, public policy and legislation.
Thompson began his career as a campaign finance intern for U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) while completing college in Austin, Texas. Thompson is a founding member of the Article One Society at the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) for the 2010 campaign cycle.
Thompson graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. A native of both Tulsa and Denver, Thompson resides in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife Allison and daughter Caroline.
