Tony Bullock, former Chief of Staff to the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan of New York, will join Ogilvy Government Relations (OGR) as a senior vice president starting June 1, 2009.
Bullock was the last person to hold the Chief of Staff position in Moynihan’s office, serving from 1996 until the Senator’s retirement at the end of his fourth term in 2000. As chief of staff to Senator Moynihan, Tony served as the principal political advisor, legislative strategist and spokesperson for the senator. He was responsible for 60 full-time employees in Washington, D.C., New York City and upstate New York.
After leaving the Senate, Bullock served as communications director and press secretary to former District of Columbia Mayor Anthony A. Williams from 2001 through September of 2004. For the past four and a half years, Bullock has been with Ogilvy Public Relations working as an executive vice president in their Washington-based public affairs practice. Before coming to Washington in 1996, Bullock held elected office for 13 years in New York State as a Suffolk County Legislator and four terms as East Hampton Town Supervisor.
“Bullock brings a tremendous knowledge of politics, government operations and communications to the firm and we are very excited about adding him to our legislative team. He has great connections in the Senate and will help us serve our clients more effectively,” said OGR’s managing director Moses Mercado.
Bullock will join a growing number of recent Democratic additions to OGR including Matthew Nugen, who served as National Political Director for Obama for America; Dean Aguillen, former senior advisor and Director of Member Services in the Office of Speaker Nancy Pelosi; managing director Moses Mercado, who brings more than fifteen years of experience at the highest levels of Congress, including high ranking positions in the U.S.
House Democratic Leader’s office and the Democratic National Committee; and managing director Gordon Taylor, who brings over 10 years of experience on Capitol Hill, most recently a Chief of Staff to Congressman Chris John.
