Ogilvy Government Relations announced today that former Under Secretary of the Department of Energy, and former Staff Director of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Bud Albright, will be joining the firm as of May 15.
“Bud brings a unique mix of strategic vision, political experience, and policy expertise across many industries to our team,” said Ogilvy Principal Chris Giblin. “He has held senior positions within three Republican administrations, as well as leading government affairs efforts for two corporations and a trade association; his experience and insights will be invaluable to our clients.”
Albright is a widely respected government expert. His service as Under Secretary at the Department of Energy, Deputy General Counsel at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Deputy Associate Attorney General at the Department of Justice, and Staff Director for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, gives him a keen understanding of where politics and policy intersect in Washington. Moreover, his six-year term as an Assistant United States Attorney provides an in-depth knowledge of the practice of criminal law.
Albright joins Ogilvy from the Washington office of CenterPoint Energy, where he served as senior vice president for policy and government relations. Previously, he helped lead the government relations operations at both Reliant Energy and the Mortgage Bankers Association.
“After serving the government, working for two corporations and one trade association, I feel the time is right to integrate those experiences into the multi-client business with my friends at Ogilvy,” said Albright. “Leading up to the 2014 election and the potential lame duck legislative period will be an exceedingly critical time for industry to engage in the legislative process. I look forward to working with the team at Ogilvy to ensure that policymakers understand the effects their decisions have on our clients.”
